Beesley throws one-hitter

After taking a no-hitter into the 9th inning against the Hurricanes on August 25, the Pirates’ Austin Beesley surrendered a single to Ryan Brittle before recording the final 3 outs and securing the 4th one-hitter in MABL history. Beesley’s performance continued what has been a dominant start to the season for Pirates pitchers who have allowed only 4 runs (1 earned) through the first month of the season.

Below is a look at the past no- or one-hit pitching performances in recorded league history. August 25 marked the first such game since Fausto Allosada no-hit the Brewers on April 3, 2016. Based on the evidence provided in past stats, no one has ever thrown a perfect game in the MABL*.

*It does not appear that Barry Takahashi’s Aug 14, 2011 game against the Pirates was without at least one baserunner as a stolen base was recorded for the Pirates, and 22 batters came to the plate compared to a 21 batter minimum in 7 innings.
