Tourney brings in food donations

The Over 40 Tournament featured teams drafted and managed by Kevin Spaise (Makai) and Rich Doster (Mauka) battling it out over 2 games played on January 14 at Eddie Tam Park in Makawao and a final game played January 15 at Kalama Park in Kihei.

The first game of the tournament finished 8-8 after Makai tied things up in the 9th inning. The second game of the day was won by the Spaise-led Makai team, 7-5. The third and final game, played on Sunday was won by Rich Doster’s squad by a final score of 12-3.

The coinciding Food Drive held to benefit the Maui Food Bank was just as successful as the tournament itself, with 246 pounds of food and more than $100 donated over the weekend. Mahalo to everyone who contributed to the cause, and special thanks to Kevin Spaise/Keller Williams Realty for organizing and sponsoring the tournament, and Roy Smith for coordinating the food drive logistics.
