The 29th season of Maui Adult Baseball League action will get underway on Sunday, January 22 in Lahaina and Makawao. The schedule for Opening Day includes the West Maui Brewers hosting the Lahaina Warriors at 10am in Lahaina, followed by the La Perouse Pirates and the Kaanapali Coast Monarchs at 1:15pm. In Makawao, the Kihei Centipedes will host the Makena Royals in the morning game while the MABL’s newest team, the Nahiku Gorillas, will play the Upcountry Dirtbags at 1:15pm.
The Gorillas will be managed by Jody Rother, a former King Kekaulike baseball coach, who has recruited many of his past players to create the 16th team in MABL history. Following the Summer 2022 season, which was played with only 7 teams, this will mean the welcomed return of an 8 team, 14-game regular season.
Prior to the January 20th deadline, all players must review the Maui Adult Baseball League’s Code of Coduct, Field Care Responsibilities, and Public Health Agreement as a requirement for league participation. Those guidelines can be viewed and accepted here.
