Youth Clinic a huge success

The Maui Adult Baseball League hosted a free youth clinic at Iron Maehara Baseball Stadium in Wailuku on Sunday morning.

Over 160 youth ages 6-12 registered for the instructional clinic which covered fundamentals of hitting, fielding, and pitching over a series of eight different stations. Approximately 30 members of the Maui Adult Baseball League helped organize, promote, and run the clinic, the first such event hosted by the league.

Following the clinic, many players and their families stayed to cheer for their favorite coaches as the Maui Adult Baseball League’s spring season playoffs continued with afternoon games at the stadium.

Special thanks to former professional ballplayers Ryan Groth and John Lamb for sharing some of their insights and reflections with participants and parents, and a huge shout out to longtime MABL players Anthony Benigno and Bryant Sparkman who spearheaded the entire effort, putting together an incredible clinic for the community of Maui.

John Lamb, who pitched for the Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Angels from 2015-2018, led a pitching station during the MABL Youth Clinic on Sunday.
Participants rotated between infield and outfield defensive drills, a footwork station, a pitching station, and batting cages.
