New for the Spring 2018 season, each month a player will be selected as the MABL Player of the Month through an online voting process. Voting is open to players, fans, and family, and is limited to 1 vote per individual. The candidates for the MABL Player of the Month award for the month of February based on their performances through the first 4 weeks of the season are listed below.
Ken Henry of the West Maui Brewers has gotten off to a tremendous start for his Spring 2018 campaign. The Brewers’ second baseman is leading the league with a .750 batting average, 9 runs scored, and 12 hits through 4 games.
The Lahaina Warriors’ Anthony Benigno is hitting .714 (10 for 14) with 5 runs scored and is leading the league with 8 RBIs to start the season.
The Kihei Centipedes’ Randy Button is 2-0 to start the season after throwing complete games against the Rays and Dirtbags. Randy has posted a 1.42 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through 19 IP while striking out 16.
Sean McKee of the Makena Royals is hitting .615 (8 for 13) through the first month of the season. Sean is tied for the league lead with 3 doubles, and has 6 runs scored, 7 RBIs, and 4 stolen bases.
Fausto Allosada of the Upcountry Dirtbags is 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA and a miniscule 0.36 WHIP through 11 innings this season. In a complete game victory against the La Perouse Pirates on February 11, Fausto surrendered only 2 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 9.
