Vote for April/May POTM

The Spring 2022 regular season is in the books! And the playoffs begin next Sunday (May 15) at Iron Maehara Stadium with the Pirates hosting the Warriors at 10:00am, followed by the Brewers vs. Rays at 1:15pm. But before they do, we have one more Player of the Month to recognize.

The April/May Player of the Month candidates listed below were selected based on their performances during the four or five games that teams played in April/May, with no more than one candidate per team. Voting is open to players, fans, and family, and is limited to 1 vote per individual. This month’s award is brought to you by Lahaina Yacht Club (@lahainayachtclub). Wanna learn how to sail? Check ’em out! And this month’s winner gets a free boat! Nah, I’m kidding. No boat. Go vote though!

Warriors’ southpaw John Lamb looked OK this month, I guess. On average in his appearances, one lucky soul per inning managed to not strike out. John pitched in four games (14 IP), yielding zero earned runs and striking out 28 batters. The Warriors have quite the 1-2 punch from the left side going into the playoffs.

Veteran Andy Michaels was a two-way player this month! He appeared in three games on the mound, producing a 2.25 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and limiting batters to a 0.200 AVG. He added 10 Ks and a win, too. At the plate, he hit 0.417/0.400/0.500 with five hits (T-3rd), including a double.

The Royals’ Max Nishikawa was tied for 2nd in both hits (6) and RBIs (5) this round to go along with four runs scored. He hit 0.545/0.583/0.636 (1.219 OPS, good for 6th), amounting to seven total bases, despite only three games played.

Elias Steadman showed up again this month. The Pirates’ utility man tied for the league lead in hits (7) and doubles (3) and was 2nd in RBIs (5) and total bases (10). He slugged 1.307, which was good for 4th, and threw in three runs and swiped bag for good measure.

The Centipedes’ CF Roman Tillman was a hard man to keep off the bases this round. Roman led the league in average (0.700), OBP (0.769), and slugging (0.900, 1.669 OPS). He tied in hits (7), despite playing in only three games, and added four RBIs, six runs, and two SBs from the leadoff spot.
