The Summer 2021 regular season is in the books! The playoffs start this Sunday, but first we have some final POTM hardware to hand out. And boy is it a good one. Offense was on the menu these past 6 weeks, and with a couple exceptional pitching performances tossed in.
The October/November 2021 Player of the Month candidates listed below were selected based on their performances during the month of October (plus last week’s game), with no more than one candidate per team. Voting is open to players, fans, and family, and is limited to 1 vote per individual.
Fresh off last month’s nomination, Brewers’ P/INF Daniel Hyatt had another HOT month. At the plate, he hit 0.467/0.529/0.867 with 13 total bases and a homer. He drove in five and scored six times thanks in part to a 2nd-best 1.396 OPS. And he really excelled on the mound, leading the league this month in wins (3), ERA (0.00), OBA (0.125), and K/IP (1.79) through 14 IP.
The Kihei Centipedes’ Michael Kiesler went off this month! In six games, he led the league in nearly every offensive category: hits (13), total bases (18), average (0.650), OBP (0.667), slugging percentage (0.900), and OPS (1.567). He also added three doubles (T-2nd), a triple (T-2nd), and five RBIs.
John Schnettgoecke led the league in RBIs (14) for the month, thanks in part to a grand slam against the Centipedes last week. The Pirates’ backstop was also 2nd in total bases (17), including two triples (T-1st), behind a 0.368/0.435/0.895 slash line. His 1.330 OPS was 5th best for the month.
Royals’ hurler — and suddenly long-baller — Jacob Tiu earns an easy nomination this month, hitting a HR in a MABL record three straight games (#pitcherswhorake)! At the plate, Tiu went 7 for 17 (0.412) with 6 RBIs and a 3rd-best 1.385 OPS. On the mound, he tossed seven innings against the Warriors, surrendering one run while striking out eight and getting the W.

Not only did Jacob hit a bomb in (a record!) 3 straight games, but the 3rd one was in the bottom of the 9th to tie a really close game against the Rays. He got my vote.
Props to John for hitting his grand slam off of me. I’m still hurt about that.
