The Maui Adult Baseball League Summer 2021 Playoffs are set to begin Sunday, November 14 at Eddie Tam Park in Makawao. In a race that came down to the final game of the regular season, the Upcountry Dirtbags (4-10) secured the 6th and final playoff spot by virtual of head-to-head run differential over the Lahaina Warriors. The Dirtbags face the Central Rays (3rd seed, 9-5), who won a one-run game over the Makena Royals last week to secure home field advantage for the first round of the playoffs. The Rays won both games of their regular regular season series, but anyone that follows Dirtbags baseball knows they put together a tough lineup come playoff time. The first pitch of this single game elimination contest is slated for 10:00am.
After the morning game, the Kihei Centipedes (4th seed, 8-6) will host the West Maui Brewers (5th seed, 8-6) at 1:15pm. The Centipedes won both regular season matchups against the Brewers, but the Brew Crew enters the playoffs winners of 4 straight and 6 of their last 8.
The winners will advance to face the top two seeds in a pair of best-of-three series in the 2nd Round of the MABL Playoffs, beginning on November 21 at Eddie Tam Park. The lower seed advancing from Round 1 will face the Makena Royals (1st seed, 11-3) in the morning game, with the higher seed facing the defending champion La Perouse Pirates (2nd seed, 10-4) to follow.
