The Maui Adult Baseball League hosted their 2nd annual free youth clinic at Iron Maehara Baseball Stadium in Wailuku on Sunday morning.
Over 170 keiki ages 6-12 registered for the instructional clinic which covered fundamentals of hitting, fielding, pitching, and base running over a series of nine different stations. Approximately 35 members of the Maui Adult Baseball League helped organize, promote, and run the clinic.
Shane Dudoit, head coach of the Kamehameha-Maui High School baseball team and deputy director of the Maui County Department of Parks and Recreation, closed the event with a message to those in attendance. Coach Dudoit urged the participants to strive for excellence in everything they set out to accomplish, and to look for opportunities to improve their athleticism.
In addition, donations to the Maui Food Bank were accepted during the clinic check-in process. In all, 167 lbs of food was collected through this event.
A huge mahalo to everyone who generously offered their time and expertise to help make the event such a success. Special thanks to Roy Smith and Anthony Benigno who put in an enormous amount of time behind the scenes to ensure the Youth Clinic ran smoothly.
