MABL season suspended

In light of the devastation caused by recent wildfires in Lahaina, games scheduled for Sunday, August 13 have been canceled. The evolving situation will be evaluated on a week-by-week basis with the intent to resume the season when it has been deemed appropriate to do so.

It is not expected that canceled games will be made up this season. At this point in time, the interisland round-robin tournament on Oahu over Labor Day weekend is proceeding as planned.

Many members of our league and our community have suffered immense loss over the past few days. If you would like to contribute to them, below are some ways you can donate funds to members of the MABL who have been directly affected. You can also consider donating to the Maui Strong Fund organized by the Hawai’i Community Foundation.

  • Cordova Venmo Thank you everyone who has reached out and helped. I just found out we don’t have fire insurance for our business @royalhawaiiansurf so we are heartbroken. Everyone is. And like everyone else here in Lahaina, we are in need of help to help rebuild our company that we’ve had in my family for over 25 years. It’s so incredibly hard to ask for anything when friends and family I know have passed away or lost everything. I also encourage my family and friends to donate to other people as well. We really do all need help.
  • Dyckman Family GoFundMe Due to the overwhelming outreach from our friends and family who are asking to help, we have set up this GoFundMe account. Your love, thoughts, and prayers are all we ask for during this most heartbreaking time, but we know that many of you want to help. All donations will go directly to help Tavner and Angie who lost everything they own, as well as, the entire Lahaina community.
  • Gerrity Family Venmo To all my ohana, we are reaching out as I lost my income due to Bettys Beach-Cafe burning in the Lahaina fire! Due to these unseen circumstances we have no idea what the future hold for our family. Rubys school King Kamehameha III unfortunately was lost in the same fire. Moving here 11 years ago I made my way down front st and by providence found Betty’s beach cafe at the end. So so many people have touched my life though Betty’s and Ruby’s school it’s beautiful and hard to see it all gone. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  • Hawkes GoFundMe Per a phone call from William, we know he is evacuated and safe. His house, everything in it, and a vehicle have been lost to the fire in Lahaina. He was called in to work to cover for co-workers who were evacuating. He returned to his house on foot to find only cinderblocks left.
  • Hirouji Family GoFundMe I kindly ask if you can help this family. Like all of us, everything they have worked hard for, is GONE. We need to rebuild and I know we have resources however this would help offset the current financial burden they are going through as they process the damages & loss.
  • Katayama Family Venmo We lost our home & our belongings and our beloved town but we are all together and that’s all that matters. We appreciate any donations. Together we will get through this!
  • Kirkman Family GoFundMe Their sole possessions are the 2 suitcases they traveled back with and 2 automobiles that were miraculously unscathed. Please help this loving and caring couple rebuild their lives!
  • Lamb Venmo Please help Maui and I any way you feel you can. Thank you for any/all consideration in helping me put my life back together after this tragic loss.
  • Landerman Venmo He lost everything in the fire. No insurance, birthday is in 2 days. Thanks for showing our Maui family some love.
  • Neizman Family GoFundMe On August 8th Lahaina, Maui was ravaged by fires that caused substantial damage to the area. With little more than their pets and the clothes on their backs Ikaika, Melisa and Mila were forced to evacuate their home. Unfortunately their house would be consumed by the fire. For those that know my sister and brother in law, the kindness, generosity and love they have for their families and friends and the island of Maui is a huge part of who they are. The costs of just daily living essentials, food, clothing, hygiene, and lodging will be unimaginable, but we are hoping to soften the blow. Anything can help.
  • Pedroza Family Venmo I am just going to post it here for my FAMILY and FRIENDS reaching out. THANK YOU me and the boys APPRECIATE anything comes our way. Lahaina Strong!
  • Wheeler Family GoFundMe Lyndsey Miller, Jon Wheeler and their 2 boys lost everything to the Lahaina fires. My starting goal is to help raise $1,000 for each person for the basics – clothing and essentials. In addition, Lyndsey’s workplace was located on Front Street and has also burned down. It will be quite chaotic in the coming months for this lovely family, but we can try our best to help from afar. Thank you for your love and support to help them rebuild from the ground up.

Members of the MABL who have been directly affected and are not represented above are encouraged to contact the league.
