Vote for Player of the Month

Following a series of rainouts, MABL action picked up again midway through April as the second half of the season kicked off. The candidates for the Player of the Month award for the month of April were selected based upon their performances during weeks 10 through 13 of the season. Voting is open to players, fans, and family, and is limited to 1 vote per individual.

Chad Blackwell of the Pacific Hurricanes had a tremendous month of April, capped off with a complete game victory against the Royals on Wednesday night. Over 4 appearances, Chad went 1-1 while leading the league with a 0.95 ERA and 0.89 WHIP in 19 IP. Furthermore, the Hurricanes right-hander hit .500 (5 for 10) over that span.

Rookie Jordan Hansen of the Kihei Centipedes had a huge month at the plate, leading the league in hits (8), doubles (2), and triples (2) during April. Jordan hit .500 with 5 runs scored, 4 RBIs, and 3 stolen bases while helped the ‘Pedes clinch a first-round bye for the playoffs.

The Lahaina Warriors’ Ikaika Neizman lead the league in hits (8) and runs scored (6) during April, including a 5 hit game against the first place Centipedes. In all, Ikaika hit .533 with a double, triple, 4 RBIs, and 5 stolen bases, while going 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA over 11 IP on the mound.

Enmanuel Yajure-Pena of the West Maui Brewers followed up his March Player of the Month performance with a couple dominant pitching performances in April. Under the lights on April 17, Enmanuel out-dueled Randy Button of the Centipedes going 9 innings and allowing only 3 hits, 1 walk, and no runs while striking out 10. For the month, he went 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA and 0.93 WHIP over 14 IP while leading the league with 20 Ks and a .125 opponent batting average.

The Central Rays’ Jeremy Loque rounds out the Player of the Month candidates for the month of April. The right-hander came up big for the Rays, delivering complete game victories against the Warriors and Pirates. Jeremy was 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA, 19 Ks, and a .159 opponent batting average over 18 IP in April.
