The Maui Adult Baseball League is hosting a free two-day instructional umpire clinic this Friday and Saturday, September 15-16. This event is open to current umpires and anyone who is considering becoming an umpire at any level, or anyone who would like to gain a deeper insight into the inner workings of a baseball game.
Instruction will be provided by Jaime Perez, who represented Maui at the 2019 Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. Prior to moving to California in 2021, Jaime had been a fixture at Maui’s baseball fields, honing his craft at all levels, from Little League, to the Maui Interscholastic League, to MABL games.
Clinic Schedule:
Friday, Sep 15 at the Maui Meeting Place (30 Lipoa St. #4106, Kihei, HI 96753) will include a “Chalk Talk” rules review from 6-8pm. Pizza will be provided.
Saturday, Sep 16 will involve on-field instruction at Papohaku Softball Field (395 Waena St, Wailuku, HI 96793) from 9am to 3pm with a break for lunch (provided).
If you are interested in attending, please register in advance to provide a headcount for food. All participants will need to fill out a waiver prior to participation. Any questions about the event can be submitted here.
