The Maui Adult Baseball League hosted a three day umpire clinic from July 9-11. The event was co-sponsored by the County of Maui Department of Parks & Recreation and featured former MABL Head Umpire and Summer 2019 Kenneth Talbot Award recipient, Jaime Perez, as the guest instructor. With over 4 decades of umpiring experience under his belt, Jaime has been involved with youth leagues — earning a coveted selection to umpire at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA in 2019 — up through high school, and, for the past several years, the MABL.
Rules, umpire positioning and responsibilities, drills, and live game situations were covered with veteran and aspiring officials in attendance. The Maui Adult Baseball League thanks everyone who helped make this event a huge success as we get set for the upcoming Summer 2021 season.
Sounds like a home run!
