The Maui Adult Baseball League will be hosting a tournament January 13-14 at Eddie Tam Park in Makawao, sponsored in part by Kevin Spaise/Keller Williams Reality. The tournament will include a Food Drive benefiting the Maui Food Bank; players, fans, and spectators are encouraged to drop off a donation to support this effort. Suggested donations include canned meat and tuna, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meals and soups with proteins, and cereal, rice, and pasta. Monetary donations may be made through the league’s Venmo account (@mauiadultbaseball, with reference to the “Over 40 Food Drive”).
Additional information is provided below:
- The tournament will feature two MABL teams (Mauka and Makai), and one team from the HBL
- The tournament is open to players 39 years of age or older
- The first 3 games will be a round-robin format with all games 7 innings in length
- There will be a 9 inning Championship Game on Sunday at noon between the top two teams*
- $15/player entry fee to cover umpires ($150/team) and a donation to the Maui Strong Fund (Kevin’s company will match the donation amount)
- The MABL (league) will pay for baseballs for the 4 games ($120), permits ($12), and umpires for the Championship Game (3 umps, at $100/$80/$80 for a total of $260)
- Trophies for Tournament MVP, Team MVPs, other…? Sponsored by Kevin Spaise.
- No roster limit set at this time.
*Team rankings from the round robin portion of the tournament will be determined by:
- Win-loss record
- Head-to-head results against tied opponents
- Overall run differential
