Interisland tournament on Oahu

The Maui Adult Baseball League will send a pair of teams to Oahu this weekend to compete in the third annual Interisland Labor Day Weekend Tournament between the MABL and the Honolulu Baseball League.

In 2023, 28 members of the MABL traveled to Oahu to compete in the four-team tournament. In total, the two Maui teams went a combined 3-3, finishing 2nd and 3rd, with the HBL Open Division All-Star team going 3-0 to win the tournament.

Last year, the MABL hosted the tournament, with Maui teams going 5-1. A team made up of members of the Brewers, Centipedes, Monarchs, Pirates, and Warriors went a perfect 3-0, defeating the HBL Open Division All-Star team twice to win the tournament.

As the defending MABL Champs, the Kihei Centipedes will be returning to Oahu this year, opening up the tournament on Saturday, August 30 with an 11am game against an All-Star team made up of players from HBL Division 2 teams at Goeas Baseball Field. The Centipedes will then travel to Ala Wai Community Park to face the HBL Open Division All-Star team at 3pm. Simultaneously, the All-MABL team, made up of players from the Brewers, Dirtbags, Tigers, and Warriors will play the HBL Open team at 11am at Ala Wai and the HBL D2 team at 3pm at Goeas.

The tournament will conclude with games at Hans L’Orange Neighborhood Park on Sunday, August 31. Based on the results from the Saturday games, the #4 seed with play the #3 seed at 10am in the consolation game, while the championship game will be played between the top two teams at 1pm.
