The 31st season of Maui Adult Baseball League action came to a close on Sunday as the Makai team, made up of All-Stars from the Kihei Centipedes, Kaanapali Coast Monarchs, Lahaina Warriors, and Nahiku Gorillas, came from behind to defeat the Mauka team by a final of 10-9 in 10 innings at Maehara Stadium.
Following the All-Star Game, 8 of the league’s top power hitters battled in blustery conditions for the chance to hoist the MABL HR Derby Champion Belt. Five different hitters went deep, with a total of 20 home runs hit throughout the Derby. In the final round, the Pirates’ Elias Steadman hit 4 longballs to edge out Frank Lettieri (3) to defend his Derby title.
In addition to the going home with the Champion Belt, Steadman will receive a custom wood bat from Trinity Bat Company for his performance! Full derby results are listed below.
