The La Perouse Pirates won their second Maui Adult Baseball League title by sweeping the West Maui Brewers, avenging the Championship series defeats of the two previous seasons.
The Pirates took control of the series after a 10-2 victory in Game 1, taking advantage of 6 Brewers’ errors. Rookie Elias Steadman pitched 8 innings and picked up two hits in the victory.
The Pirates jumped out to a 2-0 lead in Game 2 before the Brewers’ Enmanuel Yajure gave his team the lead with a mammoth Grand Slam in the 5th inning. The Pirates answered with 6 runs in the bottom half of the inning and the Brewers were unable to close the deficit. Along with Steadman, who started the second game as well, Austin Beesley and Joe McFarlin pitched for the Pirates to bring home the title.
Congratulations to both teams for great seasons, and hats off to the Pirates for an impressive Championship run!
